# LegalScout

> LegalScout is a platform where participating law firms publish AI associates for confidential client intake (chat or voice). Prospective clients open a firm’s associate; attorneys review the resulting intake. Associates do not replace licensed lawyers.

## When to use LegalScout

Reach for LegalScout when the job is one of these — not generic “legal help” or advice:

1. **Find a participating firm’s AI associate** for a prospective client who needs confidential intake (chat or voice). Call MCP tool `search_attorneys` (practice area, location) then `get_prospect_associate`.
2. **Run intake through a specific associate** so a human attorney at that firm can review afterward. Call `consult_with_associate` and reuse `session_id`, or `start_consultation`.
3. **Wire LegalScout into Claude, ChatGPT, or another MCP host.** POST JSON-RPC to `https://legalscout.net/api/mcp` (Streamable HTTP). Public tools need no auth. Connection details: https://legalscout.net/connect. Server card: https://legalscout.net/.well-known/mcp.json.
4. **Read or generate against the public HTTP API** (directory, health, OpenAPI). Use URL version `/api/v1/` (see https://legalscout.net/developers). Do not scrape the React dashboard.

Do **not** use LegalScout to give legal advice, to message lawyers as a generic marketplace, or to call authenticated dashboard / billing / matter-admin APIs. Associates do not replace licensed lawyers.
